Staff news

This summer we will be saying goodbye to two of our doctors, Dr Milly Kempton and Dr Rosa Avino, who will be moving on to new opportunities. We would like to thank them both for their hard work and dedication during their time with the practice and wish them every success for the future.

As we say farewell to Milly and Rosa, we are pleased to be able to retain some of the doctors that patients may already have met during their training placements or fixed-term appointments with us. We are delighted that Dr Lucy Frost, Dr Caoimhe Bonner and Dr Agalya Ramanathan will be continuing to work with the practice, providing continuity of care for our patients.

We look forward to working with them in the years ahead and are grateful for their ongoing contribution to the practice team.

Other news

Parking at Elms Rd Surgery site

We have noticed an increase in parents parking in the practice car park when dropping and collecting their children from the primary school.  We would politely ask that parents DO NOT park in the patient car park at the Elms Rd practice.  It makes the car park very busy and can make it difficult for patients, who may be unwell and/ or elderly, to get to the surgery at all or on time for their appointment.  Many thanks

Are you a carer?

A carer is anyone of any age who provides unpaid support to a family member, friend or neighbour who could not manage without their help because of illness, disability, frailty, mental health problems or substance misuse.

If you look after someone, it is helpful for us to know. We may be able to offer additional support, information and advice tailored to your needs.

As a carer, you may be entitled to support with your own health and wellbeing, help from social services, and financial assistance. You can find out more about your rights and the support available at Carers UK.

If you are caring for someone and think we may not be aware, please let us know. You can complete the form on the Self Help – Carers page of our website (search "carers"), call the practice, or speak to a member of our reception team at Beaumont Street or Elms Road.

If you are ordering early for a specific reason (i.e. holiday), please do note the reason somewhere in your request as it is likely to be rejected if not.

Alcohol Awareness Week – 6–12 July 2026

How might alcohol be affecting your health, wellbeing and daily life?

Alcohol is a normal part of life for many people, but it can have a greater impact on our physical and mental health than we realise. Drinking regularly can affect sleep, mood, concentration, blood pressure and weight, and over time can increase the risk of serious health conditions, including liver disease, some cancers, heart disease and stroke.

The UK Chief Medical Officers recommend that adults drink no more than 14 units of alcohol per week on a regular basis. This is roughly equivalent to 6 pints of 4% beer or one and a half bottles of wine spread across the week. Having several alcohol-free days each week can also benefit your health.

Many people are surprised by how much they drink when they start to count units. Even making small changes, such as reducing the number of drinks you have each week or choosing lower-alcohol alternatives, can have a positive impact on your health and wellbeing.

If you would like support or advice about reducing your alcohol intake, please speak to a member of our healthcare team. Further information and self-help resources are also available on our website.
