Dr Andrew Schuman

Primary qualifications: BSc MB BS DRCOG MRCGP
Dr Schuman is available for booked consultations on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. He enjoys all aspects of general practice, and also specialises in men’s health and diabetes. He is a Clinical Tutor at the University, teaching undergraduate medical students.
Dr Schuman has a particular interest in the role of literature and the humanities in medical training. In 2012, he co-founded the Poetry of Medicine, which runs workshops for those working in the NHS, aimed at facilitating the discussion and illumination of the experience of medicine through literary texts.
He writes poetry, and was shortlisted for the International Hippocrates Prize for Poetry and Medicine.
He also acts as the lead medical consultant for the mental wellbeing charity ReLit:The Bibliotherapy Foundation, and co-edited the poetry anthology Stressed Unstressed: Classic Poems to Ease the Mind (Harper Collins, 2016).
