Registered patients who have a significant impairment or disability, that is expected to last for at least twelve months can ask for ‘Reasonable adjustments’ in the way their healthcare is provided.
If you, or someone you know, may benefit from an adjustment please let us know by contacting the practice.
We will need information regarding the reason adjustments are required and the nature of the adjustments requested, along with whether you consent to this information being shared with the wider NHS (by being uploaded to the NHS Spine).
Reasonable adjustments may be things like:
- making sure there is good access for people who use a wheelchair
- Providing ground floor access for people with mobility problems
- providing plain English or easy read letters
- giving someone a priority appointment if they find it difficult waiting
- offering a longer appointment if someone needs more time with a doctor or nurse to make sure they understand the information they are given
- having a quiet space available for people waiting for their appointment
- making sure there is a hearing loop system in consultation rooms
- making sure you fill in information about the appointment If a person has a hospital or health and care passport
- ensure there is access to a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter to support at appointments or an internet video-link that could be used with BSL interpretation remotely
- using a communication chart to support a person with dementia during an appointment
See our disability access page for more details
Or see the NHS website for more information on reasonable adjustments
We will do our best to meet eligible requests for reasonable adjustments.
